CONSUMER HELP - DRYWALL TAPE INSTALLATION
Easy-to-use Wallspan® self-adhesive fiberglass tape eliminates messy, time-consuming prepasting or stapling. So you get a stronger hold and more professional results in half the time of using conventional paper tape.
WALLSPAN ON DRYWALL
1. Using a trowel, smooth out any rough edges on the drywall areas to be taped.
2. Apply WallSpan® over the joint or crack, pressing with your hand to adhere.
3. Cover with a layer of joint compound using a 10-inch trowel and steady, one-way pressure.
4. Scrape off excess compound. The compound should fill the mesh holes but leave the tape visible. Let dry 4 hours.
5. When completely dry, sand lightly with 120 grit sandpaper for a satin-smooth finish. Areas that have beaded up can be sliced off without affecting the tape's holding power.

For additional durability, apply a second coat of cement covering the tape lines on both sides. Let dry 4 hours. Sand lightly for a perfect finish.

IMPORTANT! To avoid cracking and shrinking, use only fast-setting joint compound.

WALLSPAN ON SEVERE CRACKS
  1. Fill crack with patching compound. Let dry 4 hours.
  2. Cut WallSpan® 2" longer than crack and apply over filled area.
  3. Cover repaired area with thin coat of patching compound. Let dry 4 hours.
  4. Sand lightly to perfect finish.
WALLSPAN ON HOLES
1. Cut two pieces of WallSpan®, each 2" longer than hole dimensions
2. Apply WaIlSpan® crisscross over the hole.
3. Depress tape 1/4" into hole and fill with patching compound. Let dry 4 hours.
4. Apply second coat of patching compound, feathering out edges with a trowel. Let dry 24 hours.
5. Sand lightly to a perfect finish.
For larger holes we recommend using our WallSpan® self-adhesive patch. See the drywall patching made easy page.
IMPORTANT! To avoid cracking and shrinking, use only fast-seting joint compound.
